About Our Mercury Safe Dental Practice
Dr. Eleanor 'Nora' Ruhland's "Mercury Safe Dentist" office is located in Cheektowaga, NY. She is mercury free (mercury amalgam/silver filling free) and mercury safe and he is dedicated to the practice of health-based dentistry. Her goal is to treat her patients in the most healthy, caring, holistic way possible and to share information about dental wellness with his patients so that they can make educated decisions about their oral health. She fully understands the critically important relationship of oral to overall health and realizes that; "You cannot be truly healthy without good oral health!"
Safe Mercury Amalgam Filling Removal Protocols
As your Oral Health Doctor, Dr. Ruhland is aware that mercury vapor, dental infections, and TMJ (bite) problems can have a negative impact on oral and overall health. Because of these concerns, we focus on patient education and strive to remove mercury amalgam (silver) fillings in a safe way.
We believe it is important to protect the patient, the environment, and our staff from exposure to excessive and unnecessary occupational exposure to mercury during the amalgam removal process. Doing so is supported by the ADA and other dental organizations. For information about why it's important to use a mercury safe dentist, Click Here.
To accomplish this, we utilize safe & proven removal protocols based on recommendations of the International Association of Mercury Safe Dentistry (IAMSD) and other prominent biological and holistic dental organizations.
We also utilize removal protocols for safely removing amalgam fillings based on the recommendations of New Directions Dentistry, which has set the standard for practicing mercury safe dentistry. Dr. Ruhland has been Certified as having completed their course in Minimizing Occupational Exposure to Mercury at the Dental Office: How to Make the Dental Practice Mercury Safe. For more information about why we use safe protocols to remove amalgam fillings and an explanation of what they are, Click Here.
The IAOMT has developed rigorous standards for safely removing mercury amalgam dental fillings by reducing the unnecessary and excessive exposure to mercury released from these fillings. The IAOMT's recommendations are known as the Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique (SMART).
At this time, Dr. Ruhland is one of a small number of IAOMT members who qualifies as a SMART Certified IAOMT dentist. With the SMART designation you can be confident that she is fully qualified to safely remove mercury amalgam (silver) fillings.
Holistic/Biological Dentistry is a philosophy that recognizes that the teeth and associated oral structures are a part of the whole body. Because of this important relationship, we offer a wide range of treatment options. Dr. Ruhland also takes a unique Whole Body approach to oral health care; combining sound dental science, modern technology, and years of experience with a deep concern for her patients' physical health and emotional well-being and comfort.

She also works closely with highly qualified health professionals to assist her in her efforts to return the patient to optimal oral and overall health. Her Health-Focused - Patient First approach to holistic dentistry means that she treats the teeth, jaw, and related oral structures, with specific regard to how that treatment will affect the entire body.
